Undressing Our Hearts

A BOOK REVIEW
Jen Pollock Michel’s “Teach Us To Want” is a well written book that challenges us to reflect on our desires, the “more naked parts of who we are” when we want, and why we do what we do.

There are many references to and insights from the Lord’s Prayer as she reminds us to regularly examine our desires prayerfully. Jen does a great job sharing how many spiritual practices (such as Scripture, prayer, petition, confession, and community) can help us allow God to “enter our reality and redeem us” for his good pleasure.

There is a wealth of great wisdom in this well written book including reminders that we “sometimes fail to get what we want because we failed to trust,” “the Gospel helps us stop hiding and playing games,” and “clarity and certainty are not the soil in which faith grows.” A book well worth your time and contemplation! Intervarsity Press provided me a free copy of this book in exchange for my review of which I freely give.
